Hotel rooms
During the last part of the Hotel California tour Randy Meisner decided that he had seen enough hotel room in these seven years with The Eagles. He left the band to recover in the quieter Nevada and work on a solo career. The 'Hotel California' album is the breaking point in the career of the band, but still it is their best selling album to date. It also gave rise to quarrels within the group and the eventual elimination of the Eagles.

Cover art
On the cover of the album there's a picture of the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills (Californië) at nightfall.
