Boef, born Sofiane Boussaadia on February 28, 1993 in Aubervilliers, France, is a Dutch-speaking rapper with Algerian roots. He is one of the most successful rappers in the Netherlands, with more than 1.5 million followers on Instagram and more than 1 billion streams on Spotify.
Boef started his rap career in 2015 with the release of the single "Als je lang kijkt". The song became a big hit and made Boef one of the most popular rappers in the Netherlands in a short time. In the years that followed, Boef released many successful singles and albums including: "Hossolen", "Waar ga je Goen", "Gevangenis", "Niet even zo" and "Lauw".
Boef is a controversial figure. He has regularly been in the news because of his statements and behavior. For example, in 2017, he was sentenced to 240 hours of community service for threatening a journalist. In 2020 he was sentenced again, this time to a fine of €15,000 for insulting a police officer.
Despite the controversies, Boef remains one of the most popular rappers in the Netherlands. He is a source of inspiration for many young people and is seen as one of the pioneers of Dutch hip hop.
Boef has also done a number of collaborations with other well-known rappers, including Lil' Kleine, Ronnie Flex, Sevn Alias and Lijpe.
