Boef started his rap career in 2015 with the release of the single "Als je lang kijkt". The song became a big hit and made Boef one of the most popular rappers in the Netherlands in a short time. In the years that followed, Boef released many successful singles and albums including: "Hossolen", "Waar ga je Goen", "Gevangenis", "Niet even zo" and "Lauw".
Boef is a controversial figure. He has regularly been in the news because of his statements and behavior.
